Rage In Portraiture
If rage had a message, it would roar for aliveness, howl for freedom of the body and mind, and snarl with an air of playfulness.
Rage In Portraiture is an invitation to be your fierce self; to let your primal power breathe and run wild. It is a call for self-integration: to recognize that every part of you belongs, including the energies that seem intense or scary. Your inner wolves can become your friends, your allies, your playmates, if you choose to have a relationship with them. Only when you deny and suppress them do these natural aspects of your soul become dangerous.
In the background of the piece are 56 self-portraits born from my own healthy expressions of rage (see below). This grid of Erics offers a container that keeps the wolf’s fierceness in the light of consciousness. The predator’s power is in full force, but released only in the spirit of play and passion, not violence.
